The foundation has created a class to serve foster children ages 8-12 because this age group is at a developmental pinnacle when children start to recognize their differences and act them out through things like bullying, low self-esteem, etc..
This one day class will be a unique opportunity for these children to learn about: -leadership of self and others -learn tools to help manage stress -learn how to work as a team -learn how to adapt more easily to their environment -learn how to create quality relationships -learn how to give back to their community -learn about self-esteem and how to combat peer pressure -learn how to ask for and receive support -learn how to set and achieve goals -learn that there are alternative ways to look at life -and learn how to become more solution oriented.
The Love and Peas Foundation will continue to have a relationship with the children that complete the class so that they can be a resource to them moving forward, mentoring these kids, being an adult figure in their lives that is not a parent, guardian or teacher. Our intention is to create a safe environment for these children so that they can thrive and seek their utmost potential.
It is a known fact that every individual has a basic urge/desire to accomplish one ultimate “dream”. It is the driving force of their lives and they strive to achieve this-but sometimes they get derailed, either by choice or circumstance. For those who find themselves “off track” there is a viable alternative. That is the basic tenet under which the Love and Peas Foundation was founded.
